SWEARING-IN AND INAUGURATION OF H.E. YOWERI KAGUTA MUSEVENI

H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will be sworn in today, Wednesday 12th May 2021,  for another 5 year term as President of the Republic of Uganda. This follows  his victory in the Presidential Elections that were held on 14th January 2021. H.E. Sahle-Work Zewde, President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia;  H.E. Moussa Faki, Chairperson of the AU Commission; and H.E. Workneh Gebeyu, Secretary General of IGAD are among the guests who will attend  the Swearing-in and Inauguration Ceremonies at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the Diaspora Department of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries and the Uganda Agribusiness Alliance, will host the Ugandan Diaspora Agri-Food Investment Conference2020, on Saturday 21st November 2020 from 2.00 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. (EAT).The conference will be held in a hybrid format, partially via Zoom for registered participants, internationally and in person at the Headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Kampala, Uganda, but in strict compliance with all COVID-19 prevention SOPs, as prescribed by the Ministry of Health.

 The conference offers a platform for the Ugandan diaspora to share experiences about their investments, pitch initiatives, and reflect on the current state of diaspora investments in the Ugandan agri-food industry. The Conference also offers an opportunity for the Ugandan diaspora to engage with agricultural and migration stakeholders, as well as the private sector. In addition, three successful Diaspora agripreneurs, selected through a Call for Proposals, will be officially recognized and awarded at the end of the conference.

Justice Julia Sebutinde re-elected as Judge to the International Court of Justice

Justice Dr. Julia Sebutinde has been re-elected Judge of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for a second term (2021-2030) during elections held at the United Nations in New York on 12 November 2020. 

She was among eight candidates, five of whom were elected as follows:
1. Mr. Iwasawa Yuji, Japan (169 votes)
2. Mr. George Nolte, Germany (160 votes)
3. Ms. Xue Hanqin, China (155 votes)
4. Mr. Peter Tomka, Slovakia (150 votes)
5. Ms. Julia Sebutinde, Uganda (139 votes)

The other Candidates included:
1. Mr. Emmanuel Ugirashebuja, Rwanda (87 votes)
2. Ms. Maja Sersic, Croatia (42 votes)
3. Mr. Taoheed Olufemi Elias (31 votes)

Justice Dr. Julia Sebutinde has served the International Court of Justice with distinction and ably contributed to over 40 Judgments and 65 Orders of the Court during her first term of office. 

Memorial ceremony for the Late Christine Alalo, Ag. Commissioner for Police in AMISOM

Amb. Amuge Rebecca Otengo held a small memorial ceremony at the official residence for the Late Christine Alalo, Ag. Commissioner for Police in AMISOM. The memorial was attended by members of her family who included her two sons, Emmanuel Ahimbisibwe and Alvin Asiimwe as well as her brother James Okello. Others included  members of the Ugandan Community in Addis Ababa.

THE PEACE AND SECURITY COUNCIL OF THE AFRICAN UNION CONCLUDES THE INDUCTION ON NEW PSC MEMBERS IN DJIBOUTI ON 28 MARCH 2018

Senior Officials of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) Troop Contributing Countries (TCCs) are meeting at Speke Resort Munyonyo, in Kampala.
They are deliberating  on the overall peace and security situation in Somalia and  the best way  forward to sustain  peace and security in Somalia.
