H.E. Demeke Mekonnen, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia made a one day visit to Uganda on 16th November 2020. He held a meeting with H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at Gulu State Lodge. The two leaders discussed peace and security matters affecting Ethiopia.
President Museveni advised that immediate negotiations must come into place to see to it that the war is not prolonged as it might lead to massive loss of lives and dwindling of the economy, adding that because Ethiopia was one of the oldest countries in Africa and had never been colonized, it had an image to keep since it represents the whole of Africa.
His Excellency, Mr. Demeke noted that despite the current situation, his government's immediate plan was to see to it that the lives of the civilians are protected.
Senior Officials of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) Troop Contributing Countries (TCCs) are meeting at Speke Resort Munyonyo, in Kampala.
They are deliberating on the overall peace and security situation in Somalia and the best way forward to sustain peace and security in Somalia.
President Yoweri Museveni has today arrived in the Ethiopian Capital Addis Ababa to attend the 30th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) that takes place from 22nd to 29th January 2018.

Amb. Amuge Rebecca Otengo held a small memorial ceremony at the official residence for the Late Christine Alalo, Ag. Commissioner for Police in AMISOM. The memorial was attended by members of her family who included her two sons, Emmanuel Ahimbisibwe and Alvin Asiimwe as well as her brother James Okello. Others included members of the Ugandan Community in Addis Ababa.
